The 4 Hardest Working Skincare Essentials
So you want to do skincare "right" but are not sure where to spend your dollars - what's the most effective? where will it actually count? what products make the most difference? I've got you! It's hard to limit it down but if we're talking about products that are going to address fine lines, wrinkles, elasticity and hyperpigmenation there are four main categories (and a ton of subcategories but we're focusing on the four big ones today):
SUNSCREEN
Daily SPF is the number one thing you can do to combat said fine lines, wrinkles, loss of elasticity and hyperpigmentation. Literally. If you pick one thing off of this list, that's what you should pick. It's not as sexy as all the other products because it feels like a job but that's because it's DOING A JOB. It's protecting your face from the thing that causes 90% of aging (yep!) - the sun. And then there's skin cancer which is the opposite of ideal.
You want a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and we vote for mineral active ingredients so look for Zinc Oxide and/or Titanium Dioxide in the Drug Facts as it's literally considered a drug by the FDA because it is proven to be effective. So find one you like and wear it every. single. day.

SERUM
Serums are concentrated formulations packed with potent ingredients designed to address specific skin concerns. Whether you're battling acne, dullness, or fine lines, there's a serum tailored to your needs. From vitamin C for brightening to hyaluronic acid for hydration, serums deliver potent ingredients deep into the skin, providing visible results you'll love. Think of serums as your personalized skincare prescription – powerful, targeted, and oh-so-effective.

EYE CREAM
The skin around your eyes is thinner and more prone to dryness and fine lines, making it essential to show it some extra love. Enter eye creams/gels – the multitasking wonders that hydrate, depuff, and can minimize the appearance of dark circles and wrinkles. Look for ingredients like peptides, caffeine, and antioxidants to rejuvenate and revitalize tired eyes. Trust me, incorporating an eye cream into your nightly routine will leave you looking refreshed and radiant come morning.
Creams tend to be more hydrating and packed with more ingredients that are going to move the needle. As such they're more expensive. Gels are lighter weight and are ideal under makeup or for oily skin folks and tend to be a little less expensive than creams.
Recommended products:
RETINOL
Last but certainly not least, let's delve into the world of retinols. Derived from vitamin A, retinols work wonders in combating fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone. They stimulate collagen production, increase cell turnover, and promote smoother, firmer skin over time. However, retinols can be potent, so it's crucial to start slowly and build up tolerance. Incorporate them into your nighttime routine a few times a week, and watch as your skin transforms into its best version yet. If you're sensitive you may have to try a few different options before finding the right fit - start with a gentle product and work your way up to stronger formulas over time.
